RBC Canadian Open a Victory for Transitions Optical

The view from the Transitions Optical stand at 17th hole was fantastic at the RBC Canadian Open Golf tournament, held from July 20 – 27 at Glen Abbey Golf course in Oakville, Ontario.

Through its sponsorship of the tournament, Transitions provided spectators with a variety of activities, contests and giveaways designed to reinforce the importance of maximizing vision on and off the course, while also engaging golf enthusiasts off-site through the FORE EYES Golf Pool national promotion.

Isabelle Tremblay-Dawson, marketing manager for Canada, was a gracious host at the tournament, introducing Vision Magazine editor, Paddy Kamen, to one of Canada’s top professional golfers, Ian Leggatt. A native of Cambridge, Ontario, Leggatt has been working with Transitions to inform consumers of the importance of healthy sight. A professional golfer since 1990, Leggatt joined the PGA TOUR in 2001. He is a winner on both the Nationwide and PGA TOUR, with three top-ten finishes on the PGA TOUR. Leggatt’s enthusiasm for golf is matched by his passion for helping others. Sight-related issues have touched his own family, with his father experiencing macular-degeneration.

“The RBC Canadian Open sponsorship was a great opportunity to reach a large audience with the message of healthy sight,” says Tremblay-Dawson. “We did this on the course as well as via television coverage that reached an international audience of 250 million.
This year’s tournament was won by Nathan Green, who beat Transitions Championship winner Retief Goosen in a playoff victory.
